(SACRAMENTO, CA) - California Family Fitness (CFF) is proud to announce their Gold sponsorship and CFF sponsored team for this year’s 15th annual Run to Feed the Hungry 10k run and 5k run/walk, which benefits the Sacramento Food Bank. This year’s race will be held on Thanksgiving Day at 9 a.m. and is expected to attract more than 23,000 participants.
“We are very excited to continue our partnership and lend our support to this year’s race, especially given the tough economic times for the Sacramento community,” said Larry Gury, the president and co-founder of California Family Fitness. “Whether striving for personal fitness goals or tackling the run with family and friends, each participant will contribute to a greater cause than just health benefits; they’re helping out their own community on a very significant day.”
Run to Feed the Hungry is recognized as Sacramento Valley’s largest annual run and run/walk. This year, the Sacramento Food Band and Family Services hopes to top donations from the previous years, setting a goal of $750,000.
All those interested in participating in this year’s race can register, including pre-registration, online, by mail, at selected REI store locations, or simply by registering the day of the race. For more information regarding race details and fees, please visit http://www.runtofeedthehungry.com/.
Over the last few seasons, thousands of people have been hooked on the show "Biggest Loser," which highlights a major weight loss competition where Top Losers Win! Well, at California Family Fitness, we have implemented a similar type of competition amongst our members. It's called The Body Fit Challenge and it's a good ol' fashioned weight loss challenge!
Our 2nd Body Fit Challenge kicked off at our Natomas club on September 20th! The Body Fit Challenge is an 8 week challenge in which participants will meet with their designated trainer twice a week for the first 6 weeks and then finish the final 2 weeks on their own. Participants are broken up into training teams and have the option of participating in weekly weigh-ins. To help them along the way, each participant is given a packet containing nutrition and fitness information, workout trackers, meal planners, weekly weigh- in charts, and nutrition diaries.
At the end of this 8 week challenge each club will have their finale event where participants will weigh in for the last time. Winners will be determined by total percent of body weight lost and of course, prizes will be awarded to the top male & female contestant.
