An elementary school in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has come up with a way to boost both fitness and reading skills. The school's guidance counselor outfiitted an unused classroom with 30 donated exercise bikes and a library of kids' books and magazines. Now teachers bring their classes to the Read and Ride room regularly for 15 minutes at a time. Kids pedal the bikes while reading the books. The school received enough donated bikes to put extras in classrooms, too, so kids can hop on during class if they complete their work early or show extra good behavior. Visit the Read and Ride site for info on how to start your own program.
