The Northern Area Dietetic Association (NADA) celebrates its 7th Annual Nutrition Fuels Fitness-Family Festival on Sunday, March 28, 2010 and CFF is proud to be a Gold Sponsor. This event celebrates National Nutrition Month and brings attention to childhood obesity in our community.

Rancho Cordova has launched a program intended to promote a healthier community by building awareness for those who live, work, play or pray in the area. On February 1, 2010, Mayor Ken Cooley announced a program to lead the City on a quest to lose 20 Tons in 2010. The Challenge is for each individual to lose 10 pounds in 10 months (February - November) and for the Rancho Cordova community as a whole to lose a combined total of 20 tons in 2010.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. California Family Fitness is excited to organize a team for their Walk for Wishes - Pancakes & Pajama's event coming up on Saturday, May 22nd at the California State Capitol in Sacramento.

California Family Fitness is proud to continue the tradition of supporting Run to Feed the Hungry, a 10k run and 5k run/walk, which benefits the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services. Beginning in 1994 with only 800 runners, the event now ranks as Sacramento Valley's largest annual run & fun run/walk.

CFF was a proud sponsor of the 27th annual California International Marathon (CIM), which benefits the CIM Youth Fitness Program and the American River Parkway Foundation. The race is held on December 6th and attracts more than 10,000 participants. CFF was very excited to be a part of this wonderful event which hosts such an amazing group of athletes. Running a marathon is no small feat. CFF watches several of our members train for months and it's always inspiring to see everyone accomplish their goals.

In addition to supporting the 2nd Annual Run for the Me-One, California Family Fitness was also a part of the Me-One's 1st Annual Tee'd Off at Cancer Golf Tournament held on November 2nd at Granite Bay Golf Club! The Me-One Foundation is a non-profit corporation created to help support local families facing the challenges of cancer. The Foundation provides events to promote courage, hope, laughter, and enjoyment through Camp Challenge. Camp Challenge is a free weekend camp for families afflicted by cancer and in need of a place of joy and relaxation that will focus them on living life, and not fighting disease. California Family Fitness continues the tradition of sponsoring the North Highlands Jubilee hosted by Roger Dickinson. The 8th Annual Jubilee was on Saturday, October 17th from 11am-3pm at the North Highlands Community Center located at 6040 Watt Avenue. Participants enjoyed live music, kid's activities, bounce and play areas, free health screenings, a pumpkin decorating contest and much more. Cal Fit had a booth there and joined in on the fun!

California Family Fitness was excited to join the City of Folsom this year in Cyclebration from September 11-13, 2009! Cyclebration is Northern California's most family friendly weekend of bicycle riding and racing centered around the trails, lakes and history of Folsom. Thirteen different events, from Time Trials to a Cruiser Ride, will provide riders of all ages and levels a chance to participate.

We had a great time at the State Fair once again! It was our third year and we couldn't be happier to continue the tradition with a Weird, Wild and Wacky theme! We hope you had a chance to visit our friendly staff in the Kids Park Area so your children could participate in arts and crafts as well as a fun fitness activity! The kids had a fantastic time decorating crowns, making noodle necklaces and riding tricycles in a hay maze!

Race for the Arts celebrated 11 years of this Friday night family tradition with exercise, music, art, dance, interactive booths and costumed characters!
Race for the Arts is a 5k Run/Walk where you can raise funds for any California nonprofit visual, performing and cultural arts organizations or school music, drama and art programs. 100% of pledges benefit your designated organization. For over 140 years the Sacramento Children's Home has helped children at risk find a healthy home within their families, schools and community through programs promoting child safety, positive parenting and mental health.

The GREAT RACE, presented by Eppie's Great Race Foundation, was on July 18th and CFF was a proud sponsor once again! Teams and individuals run 5.82 miles, cycle 12.5 miles and paddle boats 6.35 miles on a racecourse located on and alongside the American River. Eppie's Great Race was founded in 1974 by Sacramento area restauranteur/entrepreneur Eppie Johnson and has been held every year since, making it the "World's Oldest Triathlon."
Younger athletes are invited to compete in the Kaiser Permanente Kids Duathlon, a 2-mile run and 5.75-mile bike ride that provides kids with their own event. All duathlon participants receive a t-shirt, medal, food and fun for only $5 per child!
This is the first year that California Family Fitness teamed up with the Elk Grove Community Assistance Network to sponsor their 5th Annual Run 4 Independence Event. This event included a 10K championship, 5k Run/Walk and a Kid's 1/2 mile race. The proceeds from this event benefit the eight programs of EG-CAN (formerly Elk Grove Community Food Bank Services). We offer information on numerous topics such as Sports Conditioning, Nutrition, Family Fitness Activities, Triathlon and Marathon Training, Swim Safety, and much more!

California Family Fitness participated in the Country Lane Run & Walk at Quarry Ponds in Granite Bay. This particular event benefited the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The Mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
